02/25/10 - Council Debates Pickering Airport Question - Full Story Durhamregion.com - Pickering voters will be taking part in a referendum this October, granted no one appeals council's decision. In October council voted that the City take the proper steps to put on the municipal election ballot the question, "Do you support the City of Pickering's position to oppose construction and operation of an airport in the City of Pickering? Yes or No?"

02/10/10 - More people trying to Make a Difference - Full Story Durhamregion.com - Anti-airport advocate scrutinizes candidates. There's still no airport and council has passed a number of resolutions stating its opposition to the possibility.

12/07/09 - Taking a Stand on Pickering Home - Durhamregion.com 
In 1975, when century-old homes were being demolished to pave way for the airport, Brenda Davies, Anne Howes and Frances Moore, from a group opposed to the airport, People or Planes, illegally occupied the mid-1800s era Bentley-Carruthers farmhouse. They stayed there without heat, hydro and water for two weeks to keep it from being bulldozed, and remained there until they learned the airport had been shelved.  Full Story

10/29/09 - Pickering Council Hopes for Airport Referendum - Full Story Durhamregion.com - At the latest council meeting, Ward 2 Regional Councillor Bill McLean introduced a motion that the question of whether residents support a possible airport in north Pickering be added to the municipal election ballot.

09/29/09 - No Decision on Possible Pickering Airport - Full Story Durhamregion.com - A needs assessment study and due diligence review required before any decision on a possible Pickering airport can be made still haven't been complete, says a Transport Canada spokesperson.
