Who We Are

V.O.C.A.L. is a non profit grassroots organization formed to focus and amplify the voices of the 26 communities and innumerable neighbourhoods that will be negatively impacted by an airport located in Pickering.

Our goal is to CANCEL the Greater Toronto Airport Authorities Airport Proposal. An airport on the Federal Lands in Pickering is not needed or wanted and we want to expose the proposal for the farce it is. The GTAA is trying to grab our land. This is the land from which families were thrown off of 30 years ago for an airport that was urgently needed then. We didn't need it then and we don't need it now. The Federal Government (Liberals) are going to give all this land to the GTAA unless we stop them. HELP stop another waste of our taxpayer dollars before it occurs. Help to STOP MIRABEL WEST

We will act to ensure that the current Municipal, Regional, Provincial, and Federal politicians, who represent us, do in fact represent us. We will write letters, make telephone calls, and ultimately vote for the representatives that support us and our firm view on this project. We are serious in our call to CANCEL the Environmental Assessment process. We will actively oppose any candidate standing for election in the future that opposes us now. The EA process is clearly premature and not needed at all at this time.

We will work to inform our communities, our families, and our friends of the true cost of having the Pickering Lands designated as Airport Lands.

We work together with our neighbours, friends, supporters, and community groups to use our collective votes to support those candidates who support our positions.

The only thing that is understood by our elected officials is that we vote.  At VOCAL we want representative government and not the party politics that have driven this project forward for 30 years. We will work to end the apathy our politicians have for us.

Our vote is the only weapon we have. We must use it collectively to show we mean business and will not settle for the platitudes and misdirection we have been fed for 30 years.
